laundry 2 - radical camera

Jewish museum radical camera photography exhibition.
Found similar images on honestly wtf blog.
Above image is my favorite out of the entire exhibition.
Its extraordinary to think thats how people use to dry their clothes.
However, today's sustainability lecture was about designing to change the social behavior rather than, trying to save the nature or recycle. Amazing to find out that by simply sharing energy, that saves so much more of the planet. And large amount of energy is wasted in household activities, such as laundry. So I thought this image relates to sustainability.
Amazing.
Although this topic is off fashion and design, I found this information quite intriguing and significant in shaping myself as a designer.

Brass Hardware

Simple yet innovative.. loving the hardware accents: nuts, screws, bolts, tools.

Fall

Front of my building... its a sight you can't see in Miami. Photo was taken about two weeks ago, and almost half of the leaves are already gone. Sad, fall has came, passed, and gone. Wonderful color pallet, so warm and welcoming.

Ingres.... At the morgan museum

due on an assignment, headed down to the morgan library museum late sunday afternoon. Small tiny room with 16 drawings and three letters. I took a look around, didn't notice much. Took a closer look second time around, and found some interesting details of this man's drawings. Famously known for his painting, his drawing were as remarkable. His style was too contemporary for his time. The combination of rendering realistically only on the face, and his sketch line drawings defines his particular style. Even after a week after the visit, his drawings remain vividly in my mind. Wishing to incorporate his style into my illustrations. Life like faces, and loose sketches for garments. Maybe it will draw too much attention to the face?? Its always good to get out of the fashion mode once in a while, and appreciate old art.

James Jean

Inspiration for IS.
Skin is the largest organ.
Skin shows what is in the inside.
Everything we feel can show up in our skin.
Emotions, pain, stress.
These creatures reveal whats on the inside of them.
Somewhat like veins, or blood that flows inside the body.
Creatures that play freely, however bound by what they have on the inside.

Building Blocks

My... Lady

Stripes and things

My obsession with Miroslava Duma is almost unhealthy. However the image on the left corner has many elements. inspirational I mean. The color penciled printed on her garment is one thing. but the indigo and black stripe in the background is as appealing as the beautiful Miroslava. There is a reflection of a man by his motorcycle in a darker shade of indigo. To the right lower side of the image. There is writing in primary colors that are ever so slight. You have to squint o take a closer look.

100% Compostable

Friday afternoon, Intro design studies. The topic of the class was the growing existence of artifice in human life, inevitable destruction of nature and the unknown consequences of those actions. Most of the classmates were depressed towards the topic, exception to the few architecture majors. I, myself was included in the equation. I questioned whether or not I can contribute to sustainability, and or how I can make a change in the fashion industry, whilst maintaining financial sustenance. This is in fact the core of this class; guiding new designers to think about ways to sustain the little natural resources that remain. Then this cup made of 100% compostable matter came to mind. How a small café in the corner contributes and voices its opinion, and how it is heard by customers like me. It was an uplifting moment, where if I remain hopeful and determined, then I too can make that small change.

Circular Circular Cir..

For some reason, I moved passed the square motif and moved on to the circular shape of things. Gradual transition I guess. I was looking for inspiration around the places I visited and snapped this photo at Joe's coffee in Union Square. Loved the color and shape of this lamp. Even the other lamp in the ceiling made an appearance, collectively bringing the image all together. I especially like that one small light in the corner. When I snap photos of things that are interesting, yet not so particularly out of this world, sometimes it becomes more interesting as I crop and take away the environment it is in. This image's juxtaposition is as interesting.

Tiny little tiles......

On my way to the Bard Graduate Center in the upper west, I walked by a wonderful building front decorated by small tiny tiles that are like mosaics, however, they were mounted on, therefore it was more of a 3D component rather than 2D. Earlier this week, I came across some tile works in the walls of the subway station in Bryant Park, and different art works that are in numerous locations throughout the city, this one is a winner!! I think it is because it isn't arranged to connect and because they are beveled on top of the surface. I found that to be much more interesting. I love the color contrast in the tiles and the background....Another Inspiration sparking up...

At Work

There is something about construction workers at site. There are numerous locations where the reconstruction of the city take place, and it seems to have become a part of the city's essence. I was captured by the multiple linear qualities of the wires and the wood panels that serve as a temporary fence. I altered the image from my phone to enhance the mood of the moment. It was a rainy day and men were still at work. Gloomy as the day was, their uniforms were bright neon pallets that stand out from the rest of the landscape. I particularly took the photo to bring the fence forward to frame the image and contain the workers within. The way the colors vibrate in the darker pallet of the landscape, really took captured the essence.

Sign

I walked on a opposite side of the street I normally walk on. It was because I wanted to avoid being seen by anyone. I wasn't thinking of anything, and I wasn't looking for anything particular. At that moment, I realized I should look like I was doing something rather then just standing on the side of the street for no reason. As I looked around, I saw windows and building blocks, etc. Then I noticed these bright spray paints on the side walk. The size of it wasn't significantly big. When I tried to look around to look for something that was interesting, there it was, something interesting. I am building my collection around reinterpreted Egyptian and Aztec motif with hints of neon colors. This simple irregular shape of a square has inspired another motif for my collection
